COVID 19 has had an effect on the industry. Cinemas shut. Films due to release in 2020 delayed to 2021 such as black widow, new top gun, Wonder Woman 1984 and a quiet place part 2. Millions of people around the world in the film industry have no next job for them.  The film industry has had a hard time. Many different companies in different countries. The first reaction was to delay release dates. It messes up a release time table which ends up with a crowded release window so they will all be competing with each other. Choose which films that are more important to release as films will be stacking up. If they find a release window then a company would have to compete with themselves so they have to choose the most important film to release. The second trolls movie went into streaming by universal pictures. Made it digital rental on platforms like Apple TV for $19.99. It ended up making 100000000 on rentals.  The marketing of a film is the taking the product of a film and taking it to the audience. advertising is  trying to reach that audience. In wonder Woman all of her posters show The main character about Wonder Woman they want to show her as a feminine character and to show that show is a main focus of the film. Tank 432 had to get a company in for their marketing strategy kaleidoscope took it and marketed it in their own way. kaleidoscope made a poster with people in army clothing and it made it look like a war movie. They also used trailers.   Conglomerate films have a larger budget. They make use of vertical integration whereas Independent rely on horizontal integration. Conglomerates have a mainstream audience whereas independent have a  niche audience. Synergy is when two or more companies work together which gives them additional bonuses

  I will be analysing the opening sequence to the movie Delicatessen. The exposition to this sequence is used to set the time and place of this film. In the sequence, non – diegetic sounds of Accordion music is played in the background. This is used to set the location. It shows that this movie is set in France. This movie also sets the time of film. There is an establishing shot of thick yellow fog and there are broken buildings. This helps create the setting of this film. It shows that war has occurred. The camera slowly zooms into a door. There are diegetic, pleonastic sounds of a knife being sharpened. The camera zooms into this knife and the chief sharpening it. This shows that this chief is an important character in the film at the beginning there is barely any music in the background. This creates a dark tone to this sequence.
